Hi all, One of our users has just been upgraded to Office 2016, but is running into the issue where his search results aren't matching the search results of his old laptop running Office 2010. For example, he will search for 'from:and' and Outlook 2010 will display all the correct results. However, Outlook 2016 on the new laptop doesn't and is often missing entire email trails in the search results. Yet if he browses to the date he sees in Outlook 2010, he can see the emails listed in 2016. If he searches for 'from:andrew' the results then definitely appear on both systems. Excel 2016 for mac. Is there a configuration setting that needs to be changed? Or is Outlook 2016 different to how Outlook 2010 searches? (note: he doesn't actually use the quotation marks in his search). Any help with this would be appreciated.Outlook in Cached mode uses LOCAL indexing for searches. Try rebuilding the local Indexing database. Outlook in Online mode, or OWA, or ActiveSync all use Exchange's indexing service. Outlook in Cached mode WITH automatically attached shared mailboxes are NON-SEARCHABLE unless you manually add them in the advanced tab of the mailbox properties. Then they become part of the cached mode and will index locally on the computer for searching. In my experience the Index does more bad then good. If you disable it all together the searches take a bit longer but they work every time and never freeze up my Outlook. What OS are you running? Windows 7 is highly integrated with the indexing feature. I first go in to the Search and Index options of Windows and remove all associated Outlook data, then move to outlook Search options and make sure the options of cleared of anything you don't need. Specifically the check box for 'Show results as I type' I find causes problems. If you need to keep it on for the user, the thing that works for me is follow the above instructions again, restart, and then turn them all back on in Search and Index options.
